Dear Fellowmen,

 

The Benedict College-Groove Tiger IV Chapter Committee announces its 55th Anniversary Celebration during the 2026 Homecoming Weekend. The purpose of the 55th Anniversary Celebration is to raise funds for the students of Benedict College. The goals of the celebration are: to raise at least $125,000.00 for Benedict College Endowment Fund, recruit members of Benedict College Tiger IV Chapter, and to celebrate the achievements of Groove Tiger IV Chapter and Benedict College.

 

The Groove Tiger IV Chapter Committee request that Fellowmen from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s provide their commitment to continue the legacy of Benedict College in supporting our students in their growth and development.  This is an open invitation to all Groove Tiger IV Chapter members and Fellowmen at Large who will participate as members of the committee. All committee members are asked to attend Zoom meetings, provide donations, and volunteer on sub-committees.  

 

Our Zoom Meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month, at 7:00 pm EST.  If you intend to participate as a committee member, you may communicate with Benjamin Byrd, Chair at (803 240-5681) or Curtis Rice, Secretary (510 619-6467) with your contact information.  Upon receiving your cell #, home address, and email address, you will then be given the Zoom ID number to enter committee meetings. 

 

The Scholarship Endowment requires your funding support in #1, A, B, & C below.  Groove Tiger IV Chapter Committee’s budget requires your funding for #2 below.

 

1. We ask that all Groove Tiger IV Chapter Fellowmen contribute at least $1,275.00 prior to September 17, 2026.  You may make donations on a weekly or monthly basis.  Benedict College is in urgent need of funds due to escalating costs.   

   A.  We ask that you begin sending your donations immediately.  You may send all donations to Benedict College Alumni Relations, 1600 Harden St., Columbia, S.C. 29204 for immediate donations.  Make donations payable to Groove Endowment Fund.   

   B.  You may use the following link to enter Benedict College’s Website:

   C.  Once you enter Benedict College’s website to make electronic donations; complete your name, address, email, and phone number.  Select the Donations/Gifts drop-down.  Select Groove Endowment Fund on the drop down.  Complete your Donation/Gift Total below and click the submit button.

    

2. Should you participate as a committee member, we ask that you donate $125.00 to assist with funding expenses associated with implementing and presenting the Groove Endowment Fund to Benedict College. Expenses will cover such costs as: website expenses, social media expenses, bank expenses, a hotel suite, and food and beverage during the homecoming weekend, etc.  You may use the following link GrooveTigerChapterExpenses to access the form for your payment of $125.00 to cover operational expenses.
